I’m an aspiring Space Engineer studying an integrated Masters degree in Aero/Astro Engineering with Spacecraft Engineering at Southampton University in the UK. I have always dreamed of working on space projects (I remember following the Beagle 2 mission intimately, and was incredibly inspired by the ambition of it). From previous employment I bring experience of leading teams in high pressure environments, working voluntarily to tight deadlines and communicating effectively with individuals and organisations. A year ago I changed career to follow my dream of working in the Space Industry. Now I have been elected President of the University of Southampton Spaceflight Society (SUSF) and am thoroughly enjoying the chance to lead such an amazing group of students to reach a far wider audience than ever before.
I believe Space is the only long term future for the human race, and that we are on the edge of a new industrial revolution. I believe colonising Mars is an essential step in the story of our destiny. I fully support Mars One in their goals of colonising Mars. Our project will both lay the groundwork for future Martian agriculture, and inspire many young people to study Science and Engineering to help humanity build our future.
