I’m so excited to be a part of the Mars 100! I’m especially looking forward to rounds 3 and 4, and to the fun and challenges they will bring!
It’s been a year and a half since I made this profile. Since graduating from CalArts in 2013 I worked in a movie theater, as an extra in several tv shows (Parks and Rec, yeah!), at my grad school coordinating equipment for film shoots, and now for Deluxe, a post production house (you know that red circle in the credits? That’s us.) I’ve also continued to write- I’m working on a couple of short film scripts and two tv pilots (and boy has Mars One inspired my writing)!
If you have any questions about this project or my experience in the process, feel free to contact me! :)
And you can look me up on facebook.
Original Self Introduction:
I’m Mead McCormick. This year I received my MFA from CalArts. I got my BA from the University of Chicago. I took a year off in between the two to live in Mumbai. There I immersed myself in the culture and studied Hindi Film. I’ve done a lot of traveling, starting with the two years I spent in Siberia, when I was 7-8 years old. My grandfather is Jim McCormick, an engineer who worked for NASA and helped invent the jetpack. Since the age of 9, I’ve been obsessed with Biosphere 2.
I enjoy writing, filming, projecting, music (performing, singing), traveling, Bikram Yoga, hula hooping, anything in film, tv, or reality that has a genre flavor (science fiction, fantasy, horror, etc.), and Biosphere 2. I enjoy anything that requires creativity and an open mind.
